Free Internet Access and Free E-mail

These are just some of the questions that you might be asking yourself at the moment. With the increasing number of ISP's offering a free connection to the Internet it is worth considering your options carefully.

Two companies offering free connections are:

Freeserve is now the largest ISP in the UK with over 400,000 members. Freeserve CD-ROMs can be picked up from any branch of Dixons or PC World. Freeserve offers free internet access, free email account and free web space. The customer support line is however expensive to call but the Freeserve web site has a lot of useful advice for setting up your account and using the web space. To find out more you can visit the Freeserve website.

BT Click Free is the latest free service on offer from BT. BT Click Free is charged at local rate calls, unlike the BT Click service which was the predecessor to BT Click Free. There is no free web space or e-mail accounts but you can use Talk21 to set up free e-mail accounts which can be accessed from the Talk21 web site. To find out more visit the BT Click Free website and the Talk21 website.

The advantages of setting up an e-mail account with Talk21 are that regardless of which ISP you are using to connect to the Internet your e-mail address does not change. It is also very easy to collect your e-mail, all you need is an internet connection and a browser - no need to worry about configuring e-mail programs.
